Before You Start Reading

You are one of over 40 volunteer evaluators around the world who are helping the Luckyday Citizenship Program select the Class of 2011 Luckyday Citizenship Scholarship award laureates. Evaluators are grouped into 8 committees. Each evaluator reviews applications on an independent basis and provides a rating that is illustrated in our selection software. Each application is read by at least five evaluators and Luckyday staff. The assessment process is broken into three stages, as outlined below.

Below are some guidelines to keep in mind before you start reviewing applications:    

·        Do not print applications. Your rating and comments should only be written in the evaluation program ScholarSelect.com  Access to this program will be provided by the Luckyday Program Office by an email invite in the coming week.

·        The Luckyday Program Office and Office of Admissions will have checked all applications that you receive for eligibility. It is important, nevertheless, that you verify that the eligibility criteria for the Luckyday Citizenship Program have been met. An application should be automatically disqualified in any of the following cases:

a.      Applicant’s parents or custodians are not Mississippi Residents.
b.      Applicant has already graduated high school.
c.      No references included.
d.     The student has not been admitted to the University of Southern Mississippi.


Please inform the Luckyday Program Office (Luckyday@usm.edu, 601-266-5981, or 601-434-0671 (cell))  if you believe that a candidate does not meet the eligibility criteria. Do not disqualify a candidate before consulting with the Luckyday Program Office.

Conflict of Interest:

·        Evaluators are required to identify any potential conflict of interest, whether real or perceived. The Luckyday Program’s position is that these situations must be managed in an open and transparent manner. If there is any relationship between you and an application that has been sent to you, please declare a conflict of interest and contact the Luckyday Program Office.


Confidentiality:

·        All information contained in the application form is confidential. As an evaluator, you will be entrusted with information that was supplied to you in the strictest of confidence and that must be used for scholarship assessment purposes only.
